Linda Blair
Linda Blair, who was barely five at the time, was able grown accustomed to being placed in the spotlight. At first, as a child model or actor, she got the role of Regan the possessed girl among 600 hopefuls, in The Exorcist, (1973). Linda was awarded the Golden Globe and was on way to winning an Academy Award. However, after the revelation it was revealed that Mercedes McCambridge had dubbed the demonic voice and 8 seconds were played by a stunt-double The dream of an A list career was a failure. The next couple of years she didn't have any trouble getting the lead role in a range of films, among them the wildly successful television series Born Innocent (1974) (the #1 TV movie of that year) and Sarah T. - Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic (1975) and The Exorcist sequel Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977). The actress was detained and sentenced to three years of probation after the pressure of her friends forced her to buy cocaine after she reached aged 18. Linda was blocked by Hollywood after the highly-publicized drug bust. Her career soon became reduced to B movies and guest TV appearances.
